Success Stories

Adopted over the years: Star, Skylar and Willow

Picture

What a handsome trio. Thanks you guys for giving them the best they ever had.

Elroy aka Ace, adopted 2009

Picture
Good morning, Rene,

As per your request, here are some photos of my lover boy and me.  Who knew he'd make such a suitable lap dog? He's so astoundingly good-natured and well-behaved that he's been able to accompany me all over town...we've been having an absolute blast.

So, after a good deal of research I've found a really well-respected vet with whom I've scheduled an appointment this Thursday.

Anyway, though, I know I sound like a broken record, but Elroy really is just perfect and I couldn't be happier.  So thanks again for everything.

Blue(their third Dane from us), adopted in 2009

Picture
Hi Rene,

Blue was a little sketchy the first couple days (she stayed with Cec all the time).  She didn't like the other dogs at first  but since then she's coming along great.  She acts like she's been here all along.  She plays with Tiko and they all cuddle together on the beds at bed time.

She's getting better at accepting other people (even men) when they come in the room.  She does great on hikes and at the beach when we run into other people (and dogs).

It took her a while to get used to the doggy door.  We had to coax her in and out quite a few times. Now she goes in and out whenever she wants.

Thanks again for matching us up with another "Great Dane".

Athena aka Wiggles, adopted in 2008

Picture
Athena, (aka Wiggles) is doing great. She adapted to her new home and family within a few short days of us picking her up and is a very happy girl. She is such a wonderful addition to our family and we are so happy that we were able to provide her with the home that she deserved so much.

She has overcome all of her fears and shyness around other people and has become very outgoing. We graduated obedience training a few months ago and both her and our boy are going to be taking a step towards being therapy dogs in the future. She has such an amazing personality and everyone falls in love with her when we take them out to the park or to go pick out toys at Petsmart. Her and our boy are inseparable at this point and it is so cute to watch them and the cat cuddle together on the bed.

We cannot thank you enough for giving her the opportunity to become part of our family and for all the great work you do to help such wonderful animals find the homes they truly deserve.

I have attached a picture of the family that was taken on our wedding day.

 All our best,

Chris, John, Butterball and Wiggles (formerly known as Athena)

Sarge, adopted in October 2008

A friend of ours, and I made a rock climbing / sight seeing trip recently, and of coarse Mr. Sarge came along for the ride and was our ' on-belay' guard at the site of the climbs. I wish I would have had a video clip of him when he tried to go vertical, he's a flexible guy, he was short of a 360' when he realized we was not going to be able to climb straight up!
He's a lot of fun, and quite the ladies man, he gathers a crowd wherever we go, people come up to us just to get a picture with him!                                                                     We will most likely be going to Germany for the summer and we are planning take him.

Take care,
Sasha

Midge, adopted May 2008

Midge at 6 Months.

What can I say - Midge makes us laugh till we cry.  She is the biggest clown and she thinks everything on earth was put here just for her.  If you aren’t careful, she will take the water bottle right out of your mouth.   She is a know it all that thinks she can garden, move furniture and do laundry.  Don’t tell our grown children but we spend more on her toys than we did on theirs.

Duke, adopted in 2007

Have I mentioned how lucky we are to have found and rescued Duke, our 140 lb 11mth old Great Dane puppy?   He is truly a conscientious and caring animal, way more so than the average dog. In fact, this morning alone he decided that my garden needed to be aerated so he dug it up for me. He pulls off the bedding when it's time to change the sheets which is nearly every hour. He spills water every time he takes a drink to remind me that the floor needs mopping. When he saw that we put in new wood floors in the den, he wanted to make sure it matched with the existing wood flooring and scratched it up a bit with his nails. Duke's kindness doesn't extend only to me though. He also thinks of his brothers. For example, in his effort to make sure that Romeo got a new bed, he shred the old one to pieces last night. He doesn't want Mercutio to have to play with the same old toys, so he tears them up one after the other.

Ah, if only it wasn't for his heart of gold and his unfaltering loyalty....

Star and Skylar adopted in 2007

We are Dennis and Simone and the pround owners of Star and Skylar two three year old danes we resued from Indian Dane rescue in San Diego. Star was our first dane nearly sixteen months ago. When we decided to add another member we turned to Rene at the Indian Dane Rescue where he matched us up with our male Skylar. We couldn't have asked for a better dog.

 Sadie adopted in 2007

Rene was patient, not pushy, with helping us in selecting a dog.  If we didn't want one, no problem and we could come back another time, untill we found the right dog for our family.  He answers our questions when we email him with any problems and I admire his dedication to this wonderful breed of dog.
